The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center documents the ongoing tragic crime of enforced disappearance committed against young man “Karim Ashraf Hamid Aousour” (who was 18 years old at the time of his disappearance), since 30 December 2017, when he was taken from Al-Arish in North Sinai Governorate, without any disclosure of his place of detention or his fate to this day.

📌 Details of the disappearance and the family’s relentless efforts:

Conditions of the disappearance and his young age: According to his family’s account, Karim had just finished his studies and had not yet taken any job at the time of his disappearance. Since that date, his whereabouts have been completely unknown, as he has spent the best years of his youth in the depths of the unknown for nearly nine years.

Knocking on every door without an answer: The family confirmed that they did not leave any door unknocked; they hired a lawyer and submitted numerous formal complaints and reports to the competent authorities (including the governorate, the Office of the Public Prosecutor, and the Presidency). Despite this, the family has received no response or information that reveals his fate.

Ongoing human suffering: The young man’s relatives endure continuous psychological and social torment due to the pervasive uncertainty surrounding his fate throughout these long years.

⚖️ Demands of the Al-Shehab Human Rights Center:

The Al-Shehab Center holds the relevant security and responsible authorities fully accountable for the safety of young man Karim Ashraf Aousour, and calls for:

Immediate disclosure of his fate and whereabouts: The Public Prosecutor and the relevant authorities must urgently disclose where he is and clarify his fate after nearly 9 years of disappearance.

Serious investigation: Opening an urgent and impartial investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance from Al-Arish and holding those involved accountable for concealing him throughout this period.

Allowing the family to communicate: Immediately permitting his relatives to visit him and communicate with him to ensure his physical and psychological well-being.

Immediate release: Releasing him immediately unless he is being held under sound legal procedures that fully guarantee his rights.
