Continued Enforced Disappearance of Citizen Mostafa Hussein Mohamed Al-Ajil Since October 2015 Amid Fears for His Safety Due to His Age

Al-Shehab Human Rights Center monitors the continued enforced disappearance of citizen Mostafa Hussein Mohamed Al-Ajil, 69 years old, who works as a real estate and land trader. He has been living on Asyut Street, near the Za‘rab fuel station, since his arrest on 5 October 2015, without any disclosure of the location of his detention or his fate to date.

According to information received by the Center, he was arrested on Monday, 5 October 2015, at exactly 6:30 p.m. Since that date, no information has been available about the place of his detention or his legal status, in light of his continued disappearance for more than 11 years.

Concerns about his life and safety are growing, especially given his advanced age and the continued ambiguity surrounding his fate throughout these years, and the human and psychological suffering this has caused his family, which lacks any information that would reassure them about his condition.

Al-Shehab Human Rights Center expresses its deep concern over the continued disappearance of Mostafa Hussein Mohamed Al-Ajil, stressing that keeping his fate unknown for this long constitutes a serious violation of human rights and requires urgent intervention by the competent authorities.

The Center calls on the Public Prosecutor and the relevant authorities to immediately disclose his whereabouts and fate, conduct a serious and independent investigation into the circumstances of his arrest and disappearance, ensure his physical and psychological safety, provide the necessary medical care, enable his family to be reassured about him, and release him immediately if it is established that he has been detained without any legal basis.
