Continued Enforced Disappearance of Citizen Mohamed Sameer Mohamed Azazi Since July 2019 Following His Detention at Al-Arish First Police Station in North Sinai

Al-Shehab Human Rights Center monitors the continued enforced disappearance of citizen Mohamed Sameer Mohamed Azazi, who is currently 31 years old, and from the Mيدان الفواخرية (Midan Al-Fawakhiriyah) area in the city of Al-Arish, North Sinai Governorate, since 12 July 2019, without any disclosure of the location of his detention or his fate to date.

According to information received by the Center, Mohamed was detained by Al-Arish First Police Station on 12 July 2019. Since then, all news of him has completely ceased, and his family has been unable to obtain any information regarding his whereabouts or legal status, amid the continuation of his disappearance for more than seven years.

His family continues to suffer ongoing human and psychological distress as a result of the ambiguity surrounding his fate, alongside fears for his life and safety—especially in light of the absence of any official information clarifying where he is being held or the reasons for his continued disappearance throughout these years.

Al-Shehab Human Rights Center expresses its deep concern regarding the continued enforced disappearance of Mohamed Sameer Mohamed Azazi, stressing that the cessation of news about him following his detention by a security authority, according to his family’s account, necessitates an urgent and serious investigation to reveal his fate and identify those responsible for his continued disappearance.

The Center calls on the Public Prosecutor and the relevant authorities to immediately disclose his whereabouts and fate, conduct a serious and independent investigation into the circumstances of his detention at Al-Arish First Police Station and his subsequent disappearance, ensure his physical and psychological safety, enable his family to be reassured about him, and release him immediately if it is established that he has been detained without any legal basis.
