The continued disappearance of young man Hisham Hussein Hassan Salam since June 2018 after studying at Al-Azhar Institute
Al-Shehab Human Rights Center monitors the continued disappearance of young man Hisham Hussein Hassan Salam, 29 years old, from the Safa neighborhood, since 24 June 2018, with no disclosure so far of his whereabouts or fate.
According to information received by the Center, Hisham had been a student at Al-Azhar Institute before his news was cut off from the aforementioned date, with no information available about his location or legal status, amid his continued disappearance for more than eight years.
His family continues to suffer ongoing human and psychological distress due to the uncertainty surrounding his fate, amid fears for his life and safety, and the absence of any information that would allow them to feel reassured about him after many years of waiting.
Al-Shehab Human Rights Center expresses its deep concern about Hisham Hussein Hassan Salam’s continued disappearance over these years, stressing that keeping his fate unknown and depriving his family of knowing his whereabouts require urgent intervention by the competent authorities to uncover the circumstances of his disappearance.
The Center calls on the Public Prosecutor and the relevant authorities to immediately disclose his whereabouts and fate, conduct a serious and independent investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance, ensure his physical and psychological safety, enable his family to be reassured about him, and release him immediately if it is established that he has been detained without a legal basis.
