🔴 Death of detainee Morsi Mohamed Abdel Allah inside Gomhasa prison following deterioration of his health

⚫ Detainee Morsi Mohamed Abdel Allah, aged about 55, from the Kafr Saqr Center in the Sharqia Governorate, died inside Gomhasa Prison following a deterioration in his health, amid his suffering from two chronic conditions: hypertension and diabetes.

🔹 The deceased worked in free trade and owned a shop selling animal feed and poultry. He was also a father of three sons. His body was laid to rest this morning.

⚖️ The death once again highlights the risks that threaten the lives of detainees who suffer from chronic illnesses within places of detention, as well as the importance of providing them with the necessary medical care, regularly monitoring their health conditions, and intervening urgently when their health deteriorates.

🛑 Al-Shehab Human Rights Center stresses the necessity of ensuring all detainees’ right to appropriate healthcare, launching a serious investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, determining the extent to which the medical care required for the deceased was available before his death, and holding those responsible accountable if any negligence or shortcoming is proven.
