Violent Security Assaults Against Detainees in Badr Prison 1 for Demanding Improved Conditions

🔴 Serious escalation inside Badr Prison 1.. violent assaults and forced disappearance against detainees

Al-Shehab Human Rights Center is closely following, with deep concern, the escalating violations within Sector (4) at Badr Prison 1, following an incursion by a security force into the prison wards and the violent assault on detainees after they demanded improvements to their humanitarian conditions.

📌 Details of the assault and arbitrary transfer:

Break-in and severe injuries: A force from the Central Security forces stormed the wards and went beyond beating the detainees, resulting in the injury of the detainee “Mohamed Hashem Al-Najli” with a severe bleeding and his transfer to the medical center, amid complete ambiguity regarding his condition.

Punitive transfer: The prison administration arbitrarily transferred and “disappeared” 4 detainees for speaking on behalf of their fellow detainees, namely:

Ahmed Sami Abdel-Aal (Menoufia)

Ahmed Rizq Salama (Menoufia)

Omar Zakaria (Dakahlia)

Mohamed Mahmoud Al-Khouli (Beni Suef)

⚖️ Al-Shehab Center’s demands:

Opening an urgent and transparent investigation into the incident of the incursion and the assaults within the Badr prison complex.

Immediate disclosure of the injured detainee Mohamed Hashem Al-Najli’s health condition and place of detention.

Immediate halt to arbitrary transfer/disappearance and ensuring it is not used as a retaliatory tool against detainees.
