Save the Life of Cardiologist Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman El-Marsy
🔴 The ideal heart doctor behind bars.. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman El-Marsy faces isolation and neglect at the age of 74
The Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights is closely following with deep concern the harsh and inhuman conditions of detention faced by Professor Dr. «Mohamed Abdel Rahman El-Marsy» (74 years old), a consultant in cardiology and vascular diseases, who has been detained in his cell since 2017.
📌 A doctor who treated thousands.. and is denied treatment and isolation that threatens him:
Scientific and human standing: Dr. El-Marsy is regarded as a prominent medical figure; he received the title of “Ideal Doctor” in 2003, and devoted his life to managing free medical and charitable convoys to serve the most needy groups.
Isolation and solitary confinement: Despite his advanced age and health condition, he is held in difficult conditions that include solitary confinement, systematic deprivation of outdoor exercise, and the imposition of arbitrary restrictions on visits and family communication—violating (the Nelson Mandela Rules) for the treatment of prisoners.
A prolonged family tragedy: The psychological suffering of Dr. El-Marsy behind bars is compounded by the loss of his late wife, Mrs. Saham El-Gamal (a former parliamentarian), who died as a result of injuries sustained in the Mansoura events in 2013.
⚖️ Al-Shehab Center’s demands:
The Center emphasizes that mistreating senior citizens and prominent figures in the medical community constitutes a flagrant violation of human rights, and calls for:
The immediate termination of the solitary and prolonged isolation measures imposed on him, and enabling him to take outdoor exercise and receive visits.
Providing specialized and regular medical care appropriate to his age and critical condition as a heart doctor.
Opening an independent investigation into complaints related to the conditions of his detention and the violations committed against him.
Immediate release of him and of all senior citizens and patients whose circumstances require their release on humanitarian grounds.
