Save the Life of Former Kafr El-Sheikh Governor and MP Saad Al-Husseini
🔴 13 years of solitary confinement and abuses.. The life of former Kafr El-Sheikh governor “Saad Al-Husseini” is in danger behind bars
The Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights is following with deep concern the continued detention of engineer “Saad Al-Husseini” (66 years old), former governor of Kafr El-Sheikh and former head of the Planning and Budget Committee in the former People’s Assembly, under harsh detention conditions that have lasted for nearly 13 consecutive years.
📌 A parliamentary career erased by isolation and solitary confinement:
A prominent parliamentary political figure: Al-Husseini is considered a notable public figure; he holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a law degree, and he has been known for his parliamentary and political activity for many years.
Isolation and deliberate medical neglect: Since his arrest in September 2013, Al-Husseini has faced long, extended periods of solitary confinement and deprivation of visits, amid severe medical neglect despite his advanced age and chronic illnesses (diabetes and high blood pressure), which directly threatens his life.
Prolonged family mistreatment: The family’s human tragedy is compounded by the continued detention of his son, “Mohamed Saad,” since 2015, in addition to depriving the father of the chance to say goodbye to and take part with his family in several painful events and occasions that occurred during the years of his imprisonment.
⚖️ Al-Shehab Center’s demands:
The Center stresses that continuing to mistreat elderly people and the sick in solitary confinement cells violates the Constitution and the United Nations rules (the Nelson Mandela Rules). It calls for:
Immediate health release of engineer Saad Al-Husseini due to his age and critical health condition.
The immediate end to prolonged solitary confinement, which poses an urgent threat to his psychological and physical safety.
Allowing him access to specialized medical care and regular family visits without restrictions.
Opening a serious and transparent investigation into all the violations he has been subjected to, releasing his son, and reviewing the conditions of all detained elderly people.
