Eight years since the disappearance of engineering student Mohamed Badr... and his family is still searching for the truth
The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center commemorates the eighth anniversary of the arbitrary disappearance of student Mohamed Badr Mohamed Attia, who has been forcibly disappeared since February 17, 2018, with no official information revealing his fate to this day.
According to testimonies from his colleagues, Mohamed Badr— a fourth-year student at Al-Azhar University’s Faculty of Engineering—was stopped in Ramses Square in Cairo while returning to his university dorm after visiting his family in Mansoura. He was taken away by security forces without any explanation and has completely disappeared since that moment, without being presented to any investigative authority.
Despite the family undertaking all possible legal measures, including telegrams and complaints to the Attorney General, the Public Prosecutor, and the Ministry of Interior, the ministry denied having him in custody, and the family remains deprived of any information regarding his whereabouts or fate.
The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center demands:
🔻 A serious and urgent investigation into the arrest and disappearance
🔻 Immediate disclosure of Mohamed Badr's place of detention
🔻 Accountability for those responsible for the continued enforced disappearance outside the framework of the law
