The center expresses its deep concern regarding the sharp deterioration in the health condition of political detainee Jihad Al-Haddad (44 years old), the Egyptian engineer and media figure, and former spokesperson for the Muslim Brotherhood, who has been held for years under inhumane conditions.
🔴 Information received by the center indicates that deliberate medical neglect has led to him suffering from near-total disability and loss of the ability to walk, amid excruciating pain in his knees and deprivation of treatment and visitation, which puts his life in grave danger.
✋ Jihad Al-Haddad, who has not been convicted of any crime, is being punished solely for his political views and media activities, in a blatant violation of the constitution, Egyptian laws, and international treaties, which human rights sources have described as "silent punishment."
📌 The Al-Shehab Center demands:
1️⃣ The immediate release of Al-Haddad or at least his transfer to receive treatment in a specialized hospital.
2️⃣ An independent investigation into the incidents of medical neglect and collective punishment within Egyptian prisons.
3️⃣ Enabling him and all detainees to exercise their right to visitation and full healthcare.
🔻 The center holds the Egyptian authorities fully responsible for his life and safety.
