The center expresses its deep concern regarding the sharp deterioration in the health condition of the political detainee Amin Abdel Hamid Al-Sayarfi, who is held in Badr 3 Prison – Sector 2, where he is on an open-ended hunger and medication strike in protest against the harsh conditions of his detention.
According to his family, Al-Sayarfi is subjected to long-term solitary confinement and is deliberately deprived of necessary medical care, posing a direct threat to his life.
The center affirms that the continuation of these violations constitutes a serious breach of Egyptian law, the constitution, and international treaties, foremost among them the Nelson Mandela Rules on the Minimum Standards for the Treatment of Prisoners.
The Al-Shehab Center demands:
1️⃣ The immediate release of Al-Sayarfi or at least his transfer to a specialized hospital for treatment.
2️⃣ The cessation of solitary confinement policies and the forced hunger strike resulting from inhumane detention conditions.
3️⃣ The opening of an independent and transparent investigation into the practices of medical neglect and violations in Badr prisons.
The center holds the Egyptian authorities fully responsible for the life and safety of political detainee Amin Al-Sayarfi.
