🔴 Al-Shehab Human Rights Center expresses its deep regret and sorrow over the death of two citizens inside the detention of the Manshiyya Police Station in Alexandria, in two separate incidents, amid strong suspicions of torture and medical neglect.
◼️ First victim: Ramadan El-Sayed Hassan (Islam)
Married and a father of two children.
He was detained at the station after security forces failed to arrest his brother "Akram," who was wanted in connection with a financial dispute with a powerful family in the "Future of the Homeland" party.
He was subjected to repeated beatings inside the station to pressure him to reveal his brother's whereabouts until he breathed his last.
◼️ Second victim: Mohamed Ahmed Saad (El-Sawy)
Married and a father of three children.
He was serving a 6-month prison sentence for drug use and was supposed to be released the day after his death.
He suffered from a severe fever and exhaustion inside the overcrowded detention, and his transfer to the hospital was delayed despite his colleagues' pleas, and he was returned to detention twice instead of receiving treatment, which led to his death.
🛑 Relatives confirmed that security forces imposed a siege on the homes of both families to prevent escalation or speaking to the media.
🔹 These incidents represent a continuation of a serious phenomenon of violations against detainees inside places of detention, whether through torture or deliberate medical neglect.
The Al-Shehab Center demands:
To open an urgent and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the two deaths.
To hold all those involved in these crimes accountable.
To ensure healthcare and legal rights for all detainees.
