📌 Violations against former Minister Khaled Al-Azhari and detainees in Badr 3 Prison

The first session of the trial in case No. 865 for the year 2020 was held yesterday, in which former Minister of Manpower Khaled Al-Azhari is accused.

Despite his presence at the trial venue, he did not appear inside the defendants' cage, and the court's decision to allow his lawyer to visit him after the session was not implemented, as security prevented his exit from the prison on the grounds of "impossibility," despite the judge's promise to allow the meeting.

🔹 This action is part of the policy of tightening the siege on Sector (2) in Badr 3 Prison, and preventing any information from leaking out, as Al-Azhari has been detained for more than 4 years, deprived of visits since 2021, which has prevented his family from communicating with him or checking on his health condition.

🔹 Today's session witnessed the attendance of only defendants from Sector (1) in Badr 3 Prison, while information from inside the prison indicated the continuation of the hunger strike, and there were reports of suicide attempts among the detainees, amidst a lack of complete details so far.

Al-Shehab Center condemns these grave violations and calls for an end to the restrictions on political detainees, and for the guarantee of their legal and human rights, foremost among which is the right to visit and communicate with their families and lawyers.
