Death of the citizen Alsayyed Mohamed Abdelhameed Alsayfie, 61 years old, Hehia city, Sharkia Governorate, due to medical negligence in Badr 3 prison, Egypt. Alsayyed is a cancer patient and was prevented from receiving appropriate treatment until his condition worsened. He was finally transferred to a hospital where he died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
The citizen was sentenced to death in absentia in July 2017 in Case No. 81 of 2016 “Assassination of the Public Prosecutor”; and the verdict was confirmed. When Alsayyed was arrested, he forcibly disappeared, and later brought before the prosecution without a lawyer; then he was deported to Badr 3 prison complex until his death.
El-Shehab for Human Rights holds the Ministry of Interior responsible for his death, and demands an investigation into its circumstances, as well as the release of all detainees.
