Nearly 10 years of enforced disappearance of citizen Ramy Ali Hassan Mustafa Khattabi in North Sinai

The suffering of the family of citizen Ramy Ali Hassan Mustafa Khattabi, 40 years old, from the Midan al-Balad area in the city of El-Arish, North Sinai Governorate, continues amid the ongoing enforced disappearance of the man since 28 August 2017, with no information yet about his fate or place of detention.

According to information received by Al-Shehab Human Rights Center, news of Ramy has been cut off since the date of his disappearance, and his family remains unaware of his fate for nearly ten years, amid growing fears for his life and safety.

Al-Shehab Human Rights Center expresses deep concern about the continuation of his disappearance over these years, and calls on the Public Prosecutor and the relevant authorities to immediately reveal his fate and whereabouts, enable his family to be reassured about him, ensure his physical and psychological safety, and open a serious investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance while holding those responsible accountable.

The Center stresses that the continued enforced concealment of citizens constitutes a grave violation of human rights, and that knowing the fate of the forcibly disappeared is an inherent right of their families that they must not be deprived of.
