Al-Shehab Human Rights Center monitors the continued disappearance of citizen Khaled Abdel Fattah Hassan Salim, 47 years old, who owns a mobile phone shop in Al-Arish city, North Sinai Governorate, since 30 September 2019, with no disclosure to date of his whereabouts or fate.
According to information received by the Center, news of Khaled has been absent since that date, and no information has been available about his location or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, amid his continued absence for more than seven years, raising fears for his life and safety.
His family continues to endure ongoing human and psychological suffering due to the ambiguity surrounding his fate, and the absence of any information that would allow them to feel reassured about him or to know what he has been subjected to over these years.
Al-Shehab Human Rights Center expresses its deep concern about the continued disappearance of Khaled Abdel Fattah Hassan Salim, stressing that keeping his fate unknown throughout this period and depriving his family of knowing his whereabouts necessitate urgent intervention by the competent authorities to uncover the circumstances of his disappearance.
The Center calls on the Public Prosecutor and the relevant authorities to immediately reveal his whereabouts and fate, conduct a serious and independent investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance, ensure his physical and psychological safety, enable his family to be reassured about him, and release him immediately if it is established that he has been detained without any legal basis.
