Serious Escalation at Tenth Prison: Visitations Banned and Assault on Mohamed Adel Amid Open Hunger Strike

news Wednesday 11 February 2026

🚨 Arbitrary denial of visitation and physical assaults threaten the life of Mohamed Adel in the Tenth of Ramadan Prison (Rehabilitation 4)

The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center condemns the ongoing violations against detainee Mohamed Adel inside the Tenth of Ramadan Prison (Rehabilitation 4), primarily the repeated denial of visitation without legal justification, along with serious physical assaults.

On January 10, 2026, his family was denied visitation despite being inside the prison, under the pretext that he was "refusing the visit," without providing any written proof. During a subsequent visit on January 14, Mohamed confirmed that he had been beaten and choked on the same day, while the visit was recorded in the logs despite not being completed in reality.

Despite filing official complaints, the denial of visitation occurred again on February 10 without any written legal justification, at a time when Mohamed Adel has been on hunger strike since December 7, is being denied exercise, and there are reports of incitement from criminal detainees to assault him.

The center holds the Ministry of Interior and the prison administration fully responsible for his safety and demands:

▪️ Immediate facilitation of visitation without arbitrary denial

▪️ An independent investigation into the incidents of assault and falsification of records

▪️ Cessation of any cruel treatment or incitement against him

▪️ Provision of urgent medical care and protection

▪️ Accountability for those responsible for these violations
