🚨 Referral of two sisters and two high school students to the criminal court while continuing their detention
On January 28, 2026, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to refer case number 5000 for the year 2025 to the criminal court, while continuing the detention of four girls aged between 18 and 20, namely:
1- Shams Abdel Hamid Youssef Mohamed Nasser
2- Doaa Abdel Hamid Youssef Mohamed Nasser
3- Doaa Adly Abdel Hamid Moftah – a high school student
4- Hagar El Sayed Ahmed Abu Hamed – a high school student
They have been charged with establishing and joining a group contrary to the provisions of the law, and committing a financing crime.
According to available information, Shams and her sister Doaa were arrested first, followed by the arrest of the two students, who were subjected to enforced disappearance before being presented to the prosecution. The case documents indicate reliance on a group on the "Telegram" application, without specifying independent actions for each accused.
Doaa Adly suffers from rheumatism of the heart and a heart electrical disorder, a delicate health condition that requires special medical follow-up, raising serious concerns about her safety while in custody.
This referral comes amid human rights questions regarding the extent to which fair trial guarantees are being observed, especially given the young age of the accused and the fact that two of them are high school students.
📌 We emphasize the necessity for the concerned authorities to adhere to all legal guarantees, ensure the right to defense and healthcare, and respect relevant constitutional and international standards.
