Five Years of Forced Disappearance: The Fate of Ahmed Salah Bayoumi Remains Unclear

news Tuesday 10 February 2026

🚨 Ongoing enforced disappearance for 5 years

Citizen Ahmed Salah Ahmed Mohamed Bayoumi (49 years old), from Giza Governorate, continues to be subjected to the crime of enforced disappearance since February 8, 2020, with no official information about his place of detention or his health condition.

Ahmed works at a private Islamic library and was on his way to work in the Safat al-Laban area at the time of his disappearance, before his phone was turned off and all news about him ceased.

▪️ He has previously been subjected to arbitrary detention several times, and was later released.

▪️ His family has filed official reports with no response so far.

▪️ A witness who survived enforced disappearance reported seeing him inside one of the National Security premises.

📌 The continued disappearance of Ahmed Salah constitutes a serious violation of the law and the constitution, and is a crime that does not lapse over time.

⚖️ Al-Shehab Human Rights Center demands:

▪️ Immediate disclosure of his place of detention.

▪️ Allowing his family to communicate with him.

▪️ His release unless formal legal charges are brought against him.
