⚫️ Postponement of Aya Kamal El-Din's Trial While Her Detention Continues

The Cairo Court of Appeal – First Terrorism Circuit has decided to postpone the trial of Ms. Aya Kamal El-Din Hussein to the session on February 3, 2026, for review, while her detention continues in connection with case No. 93 of 2022, which is under the jurisdiction of the Supreme State Security.

Ms. Aya Kamal, a fashion designer from Alexandria, has been arrested three times over the past years:

▪️ October 31, 2013: Arrested for the first time at the age of 18 after participating in the 7 AM march, detained, and a ruling was issued against her before it was later reduced.

▪️ March 24, 2020: Arrested from her home after posting a video criticizing the authorities' handling of the Corona crisis, subjected to enforced disappearance for 8 days before appearing in connection with case No. 558 of 2020, known in the media as the Corona cases, and then released under precautionary measures.

▪️ July 2, 2022: Arrested for the third time from her home without explanation, and subjected to enforced disappearance for 3 days before appearing in connection with the current case No. 93 of 2022.

Aya faces typical charges commonly seen in politically motivated cases, including joining a terrorist group.

During her repeated periods of detention, Aya has suffered from severe medical neglect despite her asthma and chest allergies, in addition to being denied visits for long periods and being held in overcrowded cells, which has seriously affected her health condition.

The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center demands:

▪️ The immediate release of Aya Kamal El-Din.

▪️ Guarantee her right to treatment, healthcare, and visitation.

▪️ A serious investigation into the violations she faced during her detention.
