The journalist Safaa Al-Korbeji before the Supreme State Security Prosecution

The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center condemns the re-arrest of journalist Safaa Al-Korbeji last night and her presentation before the Supreme State Security Prosecution in Cairo, where she was charged with several accusations, including:

1️⃣ Joining a terrorist group

2️⃣ Spreading false news

3️⃣ Committing a crime related to financing terrorism

4️⃣ Using an account on the international information network for the purpose of spreading false news

She was confronted during the investigation with a single post on Facebook dating back to December 2024, which addressed the issue of the displacement of some residents of Matrouh (Ajiba Chalets) from their homes.

📌 The prosecution decided to detain her for 15 days pending investigation in case number 7256 for the year 2025, classified as Supreme State Security.

The Al-Shehab Center affirms that the continued persecution of journalists due to their opinions or journalistic work represents a blatant violation of freedom of expression and press freedom, and calls for the immediate release of journalist Safaa Al-Korbeji and all detained journalists in Egypt.
