Human Rights Campaign for World Day Against the Death Penalty
Life is a Right
On the tenth of October each year, the world commemorates the World Day Against the Death Penalty, affirming that the right to life is an inherent right for every human being and that the death penalty represents a blatant violation of this fundamental right enshrined in international charters and covenants.
In this context, Al-Shehab Human Rights Center launches its advocacy campaign titled "Life is a Right," which aims to:
Raise awareness about the reality of death sentences and their dangers
Present the international legal stance on this penalty
Highlight the most significant cases in Egypt where death sentences have been issued
Document the cases where death sentences have actually been carried out
The campaign aims to raise societal and human rights awareness regarding the dangers of the continued existence of this penalty and to call for its abolition as a first step towards complete elimination, in adherence to the principles of justice and human dignity.
