Rabaa Massacre

#Rabaa_Massacre

The Rabaa massacre lacked an impartial judge and transparent investigations to look into the events and summon all those involved.

The investigations were handled by the State Security Prosecution and referred to a terrorism court, which is an exceptional circuit.

It issued rulings that were closer to top-down decisions aimed at political revenge.

Among the most notable cases were:

*1. Case No. 34150 of 2015, Criminal Court of Nasr City First*

Known in the media as:

"The Case of the Dispersal of the Rabaa Al-Adawiya Sit-in"

• Number of defendants: 739 individuals

• Among the most prominent: Dr. Mohamed Badie (Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood), photojournalist Mahmoud Abu Zeid known as "Shoukan", Safwat Hegazy, Essam El-Erian, Osama Yassin, and others.

• 75 death sentences (reduced on appeal to only 12)

• 47 life sentences

• 374 sentences of 15 years in prison

• 215 sentences of 5 years in prison

• Acquittal of 22 individuals

*2. The Case of Al-Fath Mosque*

• Originated from protests on August 16-17, 2013, following the dispersal of Rabaa, inside and around Al-Fath Mosque in Ramses, Cairo.

• Number of defendants: approximately 494 individuals

• Collective sentences were issued for various terms of up to 25 years
