Detention of Two Egyptians in Bahrain amid Fears of Deportation to Egypt

The Bahraini authorities arrested two Egyptian citizens from Dakahlia Governorate who have been residing in Bahrain for the past 8 years. The arrest occurred on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, based on an Egyptian notification claiming that they are opposition figures. There are concerns that they may be deported to Egypt. The detainees are:

Alsayed Mohamed Mahmoud Al-Aajez – Talkha city, 59 years old - Businessman.
Mohamed Al-Iraqi Saad Hasanein – Talkha city, 45 years old - Computer Engineer.

El-Shehab for Human Rights condemns the detention of these persons and calls for their immediate release and prevention of deportation.
