▪️ The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center is closely monitoring the developments concerning citizen Ali Mohamed Mohamed Abdel Wanes, amidst conflicting accounts between what the center previously documented and the statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Interior.
▪️ The center had documented the detention of Abdel Wanes on August 19th as he arrived in Nigeria from Turkey, amid fears of his potential forced deportation and the serious violations that may ensue.
▪️ The center also received a plea from his wife, expressing her deep concern over his disappearance and the lack of information regarding his place of detention, calling on the Turkish authorities and international bodies for urgent intervention to ensure his safety and prevent his deportation.
▪️ In contrast, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced his arrest, accusing him of joining a designated terrorist organization and involvement in acts of violence, while noting that judicial rulings had been issued against him, and publishing what it claimed were confessions attributed to him.
