On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, El-Shehab Center for Human Rights launches its annual human rights campaign, coinciding with the start of the United Nations “UNiTE” campaign, which runs from 25 November to 10 December. The 2025 theme, “UNITE to End Violence against Women and Girls in Digital Spaces,” highlights the alarming rise in online violations targeting women and the profound psychological and social impacts that often spill into real life and are at times linked to serious physical violence.

The campaign aims to raise public awareness about the dangers of digital violence directed at women and girls and to shed light on the digital tools increasingly misused for stalking, harassment, defamation, manipulation, and even extortion, exploitation, and privacy violations. It also calls on governments to strengthen deterrent legislation, on technology companies to ensure safer digital environments, on donors to support women’s organizations, and on individuals to speak up and stand with survivors.

El-Shehab Center believes that combating this form of violence requires broad solidarity that begins with recognizing its severity and extends to action and accountability, to ensure a safe digital space where women and girls can participate without fear or threats.
